NAVWAR Engineer


Develops radiofrequency propagation plans for GPS field assessments or exercises involving GPS jammers. Determines output power requirements, specific antenna to be used and the location/orientation of the antenna. Operates GPS jammers and other equipment during field assessments or exercises; ensures the equipment is operated properly. Analyzes proposed radiofrequency propagation plans of other activities. Conducts modeling and simulation using GIANT, STK, Builder and other software. Builds antenna files for computer modeling. Full-time position.





  • Provide support to Navwar-related system and capability evaluations being planned and executed by developmental testing organizations, operational test agencies, and force development evaluation units.

  • Develop and analyze operationally relevant Navwar scenarios at the tactical and operational levels of war.

  • Develop and analyze Navwar threat laydowns in support of field assessments, exercises, or other events.

  • Develop prototype threat system emulators to model adversary and coalition system characteristics for high fidelity hardware-in-the-loop simulations.

  • Prepare/write an assessment plan or prepare/write the quick look, observation reports, and formal reports after the completion of a POFA or other assessment event.

  • Set up and operate jammers and instrumentation during a field assessment, exercise, or other event conducted away from the JNWC’s primary garrison facility (currently Building 20201 on Kirtland AFB).

  • Monitor and verify the operation of jammers and instrumentation operated by JNWC personnel or others during a field assessment, exercise, or other events.

  • Collect data by instrumentation, by survey or by other means during a field assessment, exercise, or other events.





  • 5 to 12 Years of Experience

  • May require a master’s degree; at least 5-12 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May lead and direct the work of others. May report to a supervisor or manager.
