GPS-PNT Communications Engineer

KIRTLAND AFB - ALBUQUERQUE, NM.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated applicable experience in one or more disciplines of GPS, PNT, and/or Communications engineering.  The experienced GPS, PNT, and/or Communications Engineer reports to the PNT Lead and is responsible for providing RF hardware design, fabrication, integration, and testing; as well as modeling, simulation, analysis, integration, and test support for products, processes, and Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR). The successful candidate will have the experience to model, simulate, or analyze RF environments, the ability to perform hardware-in-the-loop testing by integrating hardware and assets with software tools, and the ability to articulate simulation/test results. A high-performing Engineer would be expected to thrive in a dynamic environment, working efficiently both independently and cross-functionally with a highly collaborative team of our engineers. The candidate must be comfortable dealing with requirements changes and interfacing with DoD customers.

Responsibilities

 

  • GPS/PNT and RF hardware design, fabrication, integration, and testing

  • Modeling, simulation, analysis, integration, and test support for GPS/PNT products and services

  • Implements methods to model, simulate and analyze navigation equipment performance in electronically challenged environments

  • Understands the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) RF environment and can model the impact of electromagnetic effects on GNSS signals

  • Accurately determines the navigation performance of integrated GPS/PNT systems

  • Compares model performance with hardware-in-the-loop performance of GNSS and integrated GPS/PNT systems

 

Required

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering

  • Proficiency in using high-level computational tools (Matlab, Python, C#, etc.) to facilitate analysis

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in PNT, GPS, or Communications (preferably in GNSS, inertial navigation, or NAVWAR) or wireless communication

  • US Citizen and ability to acquire/retain a security clearance

 

Desired

 

  • Strong experience in electronic warfare (most preferably Navigation Warfare)

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in PNT, GPS, or Communications (preferably in GNSS, inertial navigation, or NAVWAR) or wireless communication

  • Experience in design, fabrication, and test of printed circuit boards and surface mounted components

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering with an emphasis in PNT-oriented topics or wireless communications

  • Active Top-Secret SCI security clearance
